RVing on a Budget: RV Camping Free or Cheap
Willow Beach Marina Harbor and Campground Backcountry Camping Numerous areas can be reached by boat, car, backpacking or horseback. Camping is limited to a total of 90 days within any consecutive month period. Unless otherwise specified, camping is limited to 15 days per visit at a specific backcountry area. After 15 days, campers must either move to another backcountry area or developed campground, or leave the park.

The seasonal campground open May 15 – October 18 is popular, but can be hard to get in. There are no RV hookups at this campground and it is on a first come basis only; no reservations are accepted. The North Rim is off the beaten path, quiet and secluded. Our campground is nestled in tall pines, surrounded by the Kaibab National Forest and adjacent to Jacob Lake and a beautiful meadow.
Unfortunately, Jacob Lake is actually a pond, and there is no swimming or fishing allowed. The nearby forest and Grand Canyon have great hiking and nature trails, and horseback riding is also available in the area. To learn more about the North Rim, you may want to attend the Forest Service’s interpretive programs in their newly restored historic ranger cabin and stop by the Kaibab National Forest Visitor Information Center. Prior to May 15, you cannot drive the 40 miles to the North Rim by vehicle.

Share on Facebook Situated in the desert hills between Payson and the metro Phoenix area, Roosevelt Lake provides boaters with the largest boating surface in central Arizona, at 22, acres. The shoreline stretches around the lake miles, harboring numerous boat ramps, campgrounds and other recreational opportunities. The mild desert climate makes the lake a draw any time of year, although summer temps can exceed degrees Fahrenheit.
Paved highway access makes this one of the easiest of five reservoirs along the Lower Verde River to access with your RV. Cholla Campground Near the western end of Theodore Roosevelt Lake lies the country’s largest solar-powered campground. The campground has hot showers and flush toilets.

California State Parks Campgrounds Dogs are allowed in California State Parks campgrounds, but must be kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet and in a tent or enclosed vehicle at night. Pets are not permitted in park buildings, on trails, or on most beaches. Angeles National Forest Campgrounds Campsites are first come, first served with a maximum day stay at a site, and a total of 30 days stay per year in this Forest.
The Angeles National Forest offer group campgrounds on all three of the ranger districts, some accommodating up to campers. Dogs on a leash are allowed in the campgrounds and on the trails. Recreational Vehicles no longer than 30 feet. There are 40 campsites. There is short walk to a rocky beach from the campground. Dogs on a leash are allowed in the campground, on the beach, and on the Kirk Creek Trailhead.

Our stays are typically 10 or days duration in the fall, winter and spring seasons. This is a clean, quiet and well-maintained park. The park has two campgrounds, Cottonwood and Lakeview. The Lakeview campground is older and more rustic, catering to RV and tent camping, while the Cottonwood campground is newer and caters to RVs, only. We prefer to stay in the Cottonwood campground, but can not always get a reservation there.
